The IATA AGM takes off with 160 Conference Microphones

ATA chose Congress Rental to support its 74th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the ICC in Sydney from the 3rd – 5th June, 2018. The meeting was the largest annual gathering of airline leaders in the world and it attracted over 1000 industry leaders in 2018.

Hosted by Qantas and chaired by Qantas CEO Alan Joyce, the event gave leaders a chance to discuss emerging industry issues and network with members from other airlines.

Congress Rental supplied the conference microphones and simultaneous interpretation equipment for the second two days of the event.

Plenary with delegates and microphones

A total of 160 Bosch CCS 1000 wired microphones were set-up in the ballroom at the ICC for the AGM. This was the first time these new microphones were used with the Bosch software control system in Australia.

Congress Rental used the Bosch software control and synoptics with the conference microphones to create a seat map for the event. This provided Congress Rental technicians with an overview of the microphones, enabling them to monitor the equipment throughout the entire event and remotely switch off any microphone that was left on once the delegate had finished speaking.

Congress Rental also provided the interpretation equipment for the 50 Chinese delegates in attendance. One soundproof interpreter booth was set-up at the back of the room for the Mandarin interpreters, and the delegates were able to listen to the interpretation through their Bosch headsets. The Chinese delegates sat in difference places throughout the room, so the team ensured that the whole area was covered with signal by installing the radiators on trusses above the event space.

The Congress Rental team ensured that the event was a complete success, providing four technicians on-site at all times to monitor the equipment. The technicians overcame excessive cabling issues during bump-in due to the large number of wired microphones used for the event. In particular, they guaranteed that the cabling for the head table was concealed by running the cables under the stage and tidying each of the cables after every session.

After 1,359 metres of cabling, 460 metres of gaff tape and 36 cups of coffee, our technicians delivered a flawless event for the aviation industry.
